Code of Conduct

All individuals attending the hackathon, including attendees, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and staff, are required to adhere to the following code of conduct:

Show Respect: Treat others with kindness and respect. Avoid making insulting remarks or belittling fellow attendees. Maintain a professional demeanor. Remember that any form of harassment or inappropriate behavior, including racist, sexist, or exclusionary jokes, is not acceptable. While photography is encouraged, it's important to respect the wishes of participants who choose not to be photographed.

Exercise Consideration: Value and respect diverse opinions and beliefs. Recognize that everyone is entitled to their own perspective. The range of viewpoints contributes to our ability to generate innovative solutions quickly.

Embrace Openness: The hackathon welcomes participants from all backgrounds and skills. Hackathons provide an excellent opportunity for learning and networking. Be friendly, inclusive, and open with your fellow participants. Share your knowledge, skills, and insights, and be receptive to the contributions of others. Consider open source practices, use open data where applicable, and contemplate how the code you create might be repurposed.

Embody Excellence: Give your best effort and have confidence in your capabilities. A hackathon accommodates participants of various skill levels, with each person capable of making valuable contributions. Not every project will achieve the desired outcome, but pursuing ideas you believe in is worth the effort. Your potential to make a difference is immense, and each project has the potential to positively impact lives, making our collective efforts a success.

Damage and Disruptions: All participants, mentors, Judges, Invitees and organizers of the hackathon are required to ensure that their actions do not disturb individuals outside the venue or lead to public disturbances, property damage, or destruction. In instances of such behavior, those responsible will be held accountable and required to provide compensation and requested to leave the Hackathon and the premises immediately.

Harassment encompasses inappropriate verbal remarks that target aspects such as gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion. Additionally, it involves displaying sexual images in public spaces, engaging in deliberate intimidation, stalking, persistent following, unauthorized photography or audio/video recording, causing prolonged disruptions during talks or events, engaging in inappropriate physical contact, and providing unwelcome sexual attention. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of hackathon staff immediately.
